FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Which tyre and wheel types will Smart Lever work with?
Smart Lever is compatible with tubeless tyres and tyres with tubes / clinchers from all cycling disciplines, as well as both hooked and hookless wheel rims. The unique Smart Lever "shoe” slides under the tyre bead on the inside, which also holds the tool in place, so Smart Lever is not reliant on the rim “hook” and works with hookless rims too – just requiring a little more care pushing forward until the shoe is firmly positioned under the tyre bead.
Which wheel sizes are compatible with Smart Lever?
Smart Lever works with all wheel sizes, but is designed for optimal tyre fitting performance with the most common: 700C, 29er, 28 inch, 27.5 inch, 650 and 26 inch wheels, in all tyre widths. Tyre removal performance is not affected by wheel size.
Do I need the optional Bead Lever?
If you have no problem pushing deflated tyres away from the sidewalls of your wheel rims then you do not need Bead Lever. But many tyres are now difficult to separate from the sidewall, particularly where tubeless tyre sealant is used or where the wheel rim has a groove adjacent to the inner sidewall to prevent the tyre edge from moving inbound. If you have experienced this problem – save yourself a lot of time with our optional Bead Lever. Note: Bead Lever only works with Smart Lever.

Why is Smart Lever a green product that encourages cycling?
Punctures and the risk of needing a car ride home, are often given as key reasons for not cycling or cycling less. Our aim is to promote cycling, reducing car journeys and especially avoiding the need for cyclists to be picked up after a puncture. We hate waste too, so Smart Lever is manufactured with a durable stainless-steel handle and the articulated plastic parts that protect your wheels from scratching are made from highly durable glass filled Nylon - all are replaceable and recyclable. Smart Lever is tough and because we don’t like unnecessary packaging - there isn’t any! Your order is simply sent to you in a small, light mailing bag, the outer part of which is also recyclable.
Bicycle Workshops
Smart Lever is a robust product made from stainless steel with replaceable plastic parts, and is ideal for workshop use.

Is any maintenance required?
It is important to periodically check and tighten the screws that secure the articulated plastic parts. Whilst each is secured with a stainless-steel nylon insert locking nut which resists accidental loosening, under certain conditions a nut may loosen a little, and whilst this will not materially affect the function of the tool, it can be slightly more difficult to use. To tighten - use an 8mm spanner/wrench and either a 3mm or 4mm Allen Key depending on the screw, the hook should be tightened just enough so that it stays in the position it is rotated to, the lifting roller should be tightened then backed off until it first spins freely and the shoe should also be tightened such that it can be moved but stays in the position it is rotated to.
Are there any safety precautions I need to be aware of?
Please be aware that levering a tyre produces high tensions and care is required to ensure that the user does not let go of the tool under tension as this could result in injury.
